Echo
Insanely trippy video animation made by Bart Hess for the National Glasmuseum. Seemingly simple yet complex, “minimalist expression of body and structural form created to encompass the human landscape with fluid movement of object and humanoid shell.”
So uhh…. yeah. Do it!

Bottles
Quick stop-motion short by the Toosh team from Israel. With original bottle music! Very cool.

Insane Hand Made Animation
Can’t say that I’m the biggest fan of the music, but we should all really thank J Mascis (founding member of Dinosour Jr.) if only because this video is just damn good!

Give the music a shot… and if you’re not down with it, I suggest you put the video on mute and supplement your own soundtrack. For me, the good ol’ Grateful Dead really brought this to a different level! Either way, there is no way you won’t enjoy the insanely good hand made craziness of this animation.

Space Is The Place
A funky psychedelic video edit for Salva’s track Weeeird Science. Clips taken from the 1974 film, Space Is The Place, where the space-age prophet, Sun Ra, lands his spaceship back in Oakland, CA after years of being lost in space.

Better Than a Sybian?
Warning, this video is most definitely NSFW! But… it is pretty awesome! Hot girl gets naked and has sex with guitar… What more can I say?

Directed by Jeppe Kolstrup.

The Cyclotrope
This experimental animation by Tim Wheatley turns an ordinary bike wheel into a badass cyclotrope. On his website, Tim says that this is just an initial test of the cyclotrope and has much bigger plans for it. He’s currently working on a longer piece and has roped in a musician who is working with bikes to create the music. We’re most definitely looking forward to seeing the results!

Malice in Wonderland
This video shows a woman entering her own vagina, ass nipples, and other adult images. So it’s not really safe for work… but let’s face it, you’re probably not working right now.

Malice in Wonderland was produced by graphic designer Miwako and animator Vince Collins. The video debuted in 1982, and supposedly, due to it’s graphic content and themes, caused people to “run out of theaters.” Enjoy.

The Arctic Circle
“Brutal and unforgiving – the Arctic Circle – where all that grows in abundance is… temptation.”

I’ve got to give big props to Kevin Parry, the young and extremely talented filmmaker who’s provided us with with the goods for today’s post- The Arctic Circle, a cautionary tale told in stop-motion animation.

If for no other reason at all (besides the fact that it’s totally awesome), you should probably watch it because even Tim Burton loved it, saying “it’s like a cross between 2001 and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (whatever that means).

I’m personally fascinated by the fact that Stewie Griffin and Rosie are spending their golden years cranking trees for apples in the tundra… Weird.

Animals
Animals is a strange visual journey indeed, and definitely one of the coolest/craziest videos I’ve seen in a while. It was originally broadcast on January 1st, 2011 at 4am on the reliably awesome [ adult swim ].

You’ll also find Blockhead‘s excellent video for their tune The Music Scene in there (which I posted here in full HD glory back in early November- so definitely check that out if you haven’t watched it yet). Watch out for those skiing ostriches!

Those cats will give me nightmares for years.

Into the 3rd Dimension
A small clip taken from The Animation Show. Had to post this just because I love the 2D character’s explanation for the “theoretical” 3rd Dimension. Hah, I wonder if we look and sound as silly to beings that live in the higher dimensions…

Fleshtables
This short clip was animated by Harvey Benschoter, who drew it while working the 4am-1pm shift at a TV station. He created this little treasure during the few hours of down time he had every day to let his mind and pen wander. There are about 550 tracing paper frames animated at 15fps.

Wonderland Gets Gangsta
I don’t exactly know who made this video but whoever you are, THANK YOU for this exceptionally executed mashup of Disney’s psychedelic 1951 masterpiece, Alice in Wonderland, and Three 6 Mafia’s, Smokin On Da Dro. The lip-synching is insane!
